Speaker: Samira Benz – P/CVE Coordinator

During this session, Samira Benz, a freelance consultant specializing in preventing and countering violent extremism, will pull from her experience as head of the Coordination Unit for Returnees at the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport in Berlin, and her work with the Strong Cities Network, where she focuses on policy guidance for cities regarding the reintegration of citizens from conflict zones, to discuss modalities and challenges of disengagement and de-radicalization work, as well as approaches to effective rehabilitation and reintegration.

General Knowledge Sessions

Effectively and efficiently supporting reintegration and rehabilitation efforts in a way that reduces the risk of recidivism and enhances public safety first requires framing the context appropriately and creating a synchronous ecosystem of actors. These sessions will serve to:

- Increase knowledge and awareness of evidence-based practices regarding reintegration and recidivism and bring knowledge and experience from multiple disciplines to make knowledge-construction transdisciplinary; and

- Enhance the capacity of civil society stakeholders to coordinate care with governmental stakeholders and provide effective rehabilitation and reintegration support services.
