Enhancing Knowledge & Awareness: Specialized Knowledge

Return to 'Rehabilitation and Reintegration' Page

Providing appropriate services to returnees, particularly women and children, is a priority. Doing so in a manner that is consistent with international frameworks, instruments, agreements, and standards requires all Salaama network members to improve their ability to understand and address individual needs, including mental health needs, and to ensure that this care continues in-community.

Pulling from the knowledge disseminated through the General Knowledge sessions and to effectively prepare Salaama network members to deliver effective in-community services to returnees from conflict zones, these sessions will seek to answer questions such as:

  • What lessons can be learned from other contexts on how to handle the return, prosecution, rehabilitation and reintegration of women and children?
  • How can we improve our ability to identify, analyse and meet the needs of women and children returning from conflict zones, including mental health needs, particularly in-community?
  • How can we improve our ability to identify any risks associated with not fulfilling those needs, particularly mental health needs, among women and children returning from conflict zones?
  • How do we ensure that all standard operating procedures and policies for rehabilitation and reintegration account for human rights and protect equality?

The links to the Specialized Knowledge sessions will be available soon for Salaama network members only.
