The Salaama Network will serve as a national ecosystem of actors bound by common standards to facilitate a whole-of-society approach to the reintegration and rehabilitation of Maldivian citizens returning from conflict zones, particularly women and children, and ensure that every actor involved in the process within the Republic of Maldives has adequate knowledge and access to evidence-based support for reintegration.
About the Salaama Project
The Salaama project was set up to advance the creation of a national network of actors bound by common standards that facilitates a whole-of-society-approach to the rehabilitation and reintegration of Maldivian nationals returning from conflict zones. The goal is to guarantee that every actor involved in this process, both in government and in civil society, has adequate knowledge and access to evidence-based practices for providing appropriate support as individuals return to their communities in Maldives.
Salaama will also serve to:
Increase coordination and information sharing between actors involved in rehabilitation and reintegration activities.
Provide stakeholders with advanced knowledge and awareness of best practices in the field of reintegration and rehabilitation of individuals returning from conflict zones, particularly women and children.
Ensure public safety by designing appropriate reintegration plans and providing effective in-community mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services in all areas of the country.
The Salaama network will serve as a national ecosystem of actors bound by common standards to facilitate the safe, healthy, and dignified rehabilitation and reintegration of Maldivian citizens returning from conflict zones. We seek to provide these individuals with a sense of safety, power, and self-worth, while increasing national resilience to terrorism1 over the long-term.
